These old cures very often cured a great many diseases, aches, and pains.
A toothache it is said, will go if you rub a dead person’s finger on the gum or if you carry a sheep’s tooth in you pocket.
A sty was cured by pointing to it eight gooseberry thorns eight times and then throwing the ninth over your left shoulder.
Rheumatism was cured by carrying a raw potato in one's back pocket.
