    here. Three roads meet at the graveyard, the Knock road, which terminates here, the park road going in an easterly direction, and the Church road which goes in a north-westerly direction. Where these three roads meet is called "The Park or Church Turn".
    Some old people say that the Knock and Church roads were mad as relief work during the Famine time, and people who worked on it only got sixpence a day. But the times being so bad they were satisfied with same. There is a large high hill on the Ballinasloe-Athlone road near an old barrack in the Carrowreagh village, named "Mullaghawee" or the "Barrack Hill" as it is often called.
    There is a cross-roads on the Ballinasloe-Athlone road, where the road turns to Brideswell. Pitch and toss is usually carried on here as a pastime in Summer. There is also a cross-roads where the Knock road branches off. Old people remember of big dances being held there long ago. but no dances are held nowadays. Music and singing also took place.
    There are two or three paths in the district. There is one running in the fields of Mr. Galvin, Mr O' Donnell, Mr. Murray, and Mr.
