  1. Told to James Mannion Castlesampson Bealnamullia Athlone.
    William Glennon of Esker Taughmaconnell Ballinsloe (lately deceased at age of 95) walked from Esker to Athlone distance of 7 miles Irish from Athlone to Ballinasloe, distance of 12 miles Irish and from Ballinasloe to his home 8 Irish miles and arrived home at 12 noon having started about 7,30am in the morning.
    Witnessed by Pat Carty of Esker who is still living and about 82 years of age.

  2. Mick Kilroy of Carrowduff Taughmaconnell Ballinasloe threw two 1/2 cwt weights about 20 feet. This feat was performed about forty years ago.
