There are no old people in Ballybawn at present but one old woman Mrs. Cahalane who was able to speak Irish as well as English and she used pursale all the people.
At one time a landlord lived there named Robert M. Swanton but he is dead over twentyfive years. When he used be drunk he used speak Irish but when he usen't be drunk he wasn't able to speak Irish at all.
There are but two old ruins in Ballybawn. In one old ruin Manleys lived and in the other Sullivans lived. - The townland I live in is Derrinard. It is an Irish name meaning the high wood.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
