- If the bride's box (her trousseau) is conveyed to her new home during Lent it is considered unlucky.
It is supposed to be unlucky for two of the same family to get married the same year.
On old time marriage custom was:- a man from the bride's house went on the marriage morning, to the bridegroom's house to convey the latter and his party to the bride's house.
Then the bridegroom led the way in an open car or trap to the church and the bride came last in the procession of cars to the church - she being in a closed car - a covered car.
