"The Boggera Hills"
I'm sitting watching the coal fire burning,
Though my heart and thoughts are far away from here.
For in fancy pinions are they returning
To where dear old Cork peaks appear
But there is something in that shelf before me
And Oh what rapture my heart if fills
What a flood of memories it brings o'er me
Its a sod of turf from the Boggera hills.(2)
Its a sod of turf that with devotion
I had brought from home as a Souvenior
Its little I thought that beyond the ocean
T'would one day cause me to shed a tear
Would I not stop that tear from flowing
At the thought of Ireland's valleys and rills
Or would I fancy those breezes blowing
Across the dear old Boggera hills.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
