- A great well contested football match was played about 58 years ago. The teams were from the parish of Meelin and Lismire. There were twenty one at each side. This match was played by stalwart men much on the same principle as Rugby. It was played on the big field by the road side now possesed by Mr Tim Kiely, Lismire.

The players Patrick Lysaght, John Cussen, Andy Murphy, Tim Connell, Jerh. Finn, were in Lismire team.
