- Long ago the people of Ireland were not taught or trained to play or take part in football and hurling matches, therefore when they tried to play them during their leisure hours they had no order but each one played to his own liking.
All the people were allowed play in the teams, and the ball was kicked over ditches, through fields, and all over the district. The team who would throw the ball farthest would win or get the victory. When commencing the game the people went into the largest field in the district, but then they used kick the ball far away from that field. They used a hard leather ball for this game.
