  1. Potatoes are grown in our farm at home. Every year about the same portion of land is allowed for potatoes. This ground is not manured before it is turned up.
    The potatoes are sown in drills. The furrows are opened with a drill-plough about twenty eight inches apart. The manure is then drawn out into the field and spread on the furrows. The seed is then spread on the manure ten or twelve inches apart. The earth covers the seed and
