“There was a man who had five daughters...”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)alright. So they were married and as they were coming home they saw a hare in a field. The farmer's hound was with him and he ran after the hare. The farmer whistled at him but he did not obey. In a little while he returned with a hare in his mouth. The man then pulled a revolver out of his pocket and shot the hound dead. She asked him why he did it and he said "Why did'nt he come back when I whistled at him". As they were passing a high fence he directed the horse who was very old towards it to jump it. The horse failed, the farmer got his revolver and shot him. He made his wife bring home the "cúlóg". When the bride went to bed, he told his mother to give her potatoes and milk and to fry meat for the servants in such a way that the bride would smell it.
