There was a rock in one of Dan Cashmans fields in the townland of Laught. When the field was cultivated there was a well at the foot of the rock. It is said that a soldier named ODonoghue who was killed at the Battle of Knockbrark was buried there. The rock was broken and the well closed by Dan Cashman when the field was reclaimed. That field was ever called the "Soldiers Lough"
