put down hatching eggs in the first Friday of March, so the chickens can be out in the month of March. These birds are considered by the people as being the best. Eggs laid on Good Friday are kept as the people think that there is a certain blessing attached to them. The sign of the Cross is also supposed to be on these eggs. When calling hens the farmers say tuk, tuk, tuk and when calling ducks he says fin, fin, fin.
Another custom is when the milking is finished the milker dips his thumb into the milk, and makes the sign of the Cross on the cow.
There is a further custom connected with hatching eggs. When two sets of hatching eggs are put down markings are put on some eggs to distinguish which of them came out the best. Hens also has names which they recognise when called. Some hens also have the instinct to respond with a cackle when called.
