- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)in May because, "Marry in May and you will rue the day." August is another unlucky month to get married. People round here seldom get married on Wednesday and they never get married on Monday.
The Bride usually wears a blue frock. - Hallow E'en or "snap-apple" night occurs on 31st October. It is a great night of sport and fun for the young people.
I prefer Christmas Day to any day of the year and next to that "Snap-apple" night. Before hand the woman of the house bakes a sweet cake or sometimes buys one. In this cake she puts a ring, a piece of rag, a bit of stick and a coin. It is believed that whoever gets the ring will be the first to be married and whoever is unlucky enough to get the piece of rag, poverty is her share.
People say it is unlucky to get the bit of stick as the finder is supposed to be the first(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
