1. The Hangman's Quarry (ar lean)

   for every car that passed. One day a man came along and he refused to pay the toll. The gatekeeper would not allow him to pass without paying so the two quarrelled. The gatekeeper was killed and the driver of the car was carried to the quarry and hanged there. Ever after the place was known as the Hangman's Quarry.

   In Mr Bowdren's land at Ashfield, Fermoy Co. Cork there is a field called the Ploughing match field because ploughing matches used be held there in former times.

   The townland of Labbycally, Glanworth, Co Cork is situated about 4 miles north of Fermoy on the road to Glanworth village. Near the road on the land now owned by Mr Quinlan there is a well known cromlech which is called
