  1. The fox is the most sly and most cunning of all animals. He has been often known to pretend to be dead in order to escape being caught. Once a man living in Kilworth a granduncle of mine named Patrick Murphy who was working on a farm told this story to my Aunt who related it to me.
    In this farm a great number of fowl were kept, the fowl were often missing and were supposed to be taken by a fox. One morning this man was letting out the fowl into a pond in the farm-yard near which there was a wall on this wall he saw the fox perched looking with hungry eyes on the fowl.
