    Sore Throats
    Roast onions by throwing them into the fire then eat with a little salt. Gargle the throat with salt and water when the first sign of soreness is felt.
    Earache
    Pour a little heated melted butter or heated olive oil into the ear, place a small heated onion in the ear.
    Rheumatism.
    Bathe the effected part in hot water and then dry well before a fire if possible, then put paraffin oil on the part, but do not rub this as it would cause a blister. Olive oil rubbed on the painful part eases the pain, but this is not so effective a cure as the paraffin.
