- There are two forges in my parish. Ned Mahony has one forge and Jim Rigney has the other. Mahonys have had the forge for many years. Rigney himself was the first smith in his family. He has the forge twenty years. Jim Rigney's father was a policeman. Mahony's forge is situated on a hill by the roadside. Rigneys forge is situated in the town of Cloyne.
Mahonys forge is a big room, with a tiled roof. There is a big door in it, specially made for horses to go in. There are two fireplaces in it, and one big chimney. There is also two bellows in it. They are made of leathers, and a big long handle out of each of them. The Blacksmith works this handle up and down when he wants to blow the fire. Nearly all the bellows were locally made. The implements that the Blacksmith uses are, hammers, sledges(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
