DireenA townland north west of the village. The word comes from Doirín a little wood. There are no remains whatsoever of this wood.
KnocknagornaThis is another townland North of the village. Some of the old people in this district say that this name comes from the Irish Cnoc na gCoir Neach - The hill of the good steeds. Others in the district say that it comes from Cnoc na gCoirneach - The hill of the crows.DromadaThe above is the name of a hillside facing the river a short distance from the village. Some say that this Drom Fhada got its name from the backbone of the giant of the above legend which was found there. On the other hand if one is standing at the other side of the river, he can plainly see that that particular hill has a Drom Fhada or long ridge. The majority of the older people agree that the hill got its name on(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
