- Our only patron Saint connected with this district is St Ita. She was born in Co. Waterford, and was the daughter of a very wealthy gentleman. When she was twenty one years he tried to force her to marry a noble man but she refused. He then treated her very cruelly and she fled from home. She passed by Mitchelstown, Kilfinnane, Ballygran and into Feenagh. She was accompanied by her sister Feenah but at that time there were no houses there then only one cabin in the side of the road. They got some lttle reception there and that is why it is now called Feenagh. She then went through Kilmeedy where there is a well still called after(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
