- The most common food, to be used in former years, were potatoes and indian meal. The liquid, generally drank was thick milk with the exception of tea on feast days. Indian meal was also called stirabout. it got its name from the people, who depended on such diet because they used to have such an appetite for it and at as much, the common saying they had was, we are not all able to stir about.
Numerous others lived on three meals daily consisting of potatoes and milk at each meal. They had no up to date food, like they have presently, nor vessels(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
