  1. Hurling and football are very popular nowdays. In my district hurling is played, and about four years ago there was a big match played, between Croom and Foynes. Fifteen men were in each team. The teams were picked by having a practice match and then the best fifteen were picked.
    The score was three goals two (pints) points and two goals four points leaving / Foynes winners by one point. It was a thrilling match, and the clash of the ash kept the ball in play for one long hour. Paddy Philips played a great game for Croom and Mick Kelly played a great game for Foynes.
