    In the townland of Knocknagraid, Parish of Manister an Aonaigh, there was uncovered this year a peculiar vessel of bog-oak.

    of Knocknagranshee. Its discovery was due to the turf cutting experiments of Mr. Geoffrey Lane, owner of the farm. He had been cutting turf in some portions of the bog which jutted into the good land and his son aged fifteen stumbled on the find. A rough sketch is provided to enable the reader to visualise the type of vessel or utensil which was uncovered.
    Primarily it had been a solid block of bog oak, which had been gouged out to form the type of vessel which the sketch attempts to indicate. It is 7'-4" long, 2'-4" wide at the open end A, and 1'-8"-(I think now) at the closed end B. A champher runs along the sides, lengthwise, inside and into
