- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)native of Sráid-na-cathrach - Miltown Malbay in the west, say that a man - a farmer's son left the townland of Kilcorcoran(birthplace of the poet Comyn) to go in the direction of Limerick from whence he never after returned; and that we had here in Kilmallock town a Clare man for "the unkown Fenian.
"History repeats itself". A young man from the same town was in later years supposed to be present at the taking of Kilmallock barracks. - The following ballad was composed by Michael Hogan(the bard of Thomond) and can be recited by old persons yet in the period.
"The Nameless Patriot"
Who was he at Kilmallock, that brave-hearted stranger
That daringly breasted the fire of the foe?
Like a veteran inured to the battles grim danger
He fought till the red hail of death laid him low
Nameless he fell on the frozen sword dying
No kind hand to soothe him or bear him away
The dreary March wind his sad litany sighing
His death-couch and pillow the blood-moistened clay(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
