    the opportunity of visiting his residence Dromkeen Court, which he found standing, but plundered from cellar to garret. His local knowledge and his influence were of great service to King William.
    A family tradition states that De Burgh entertained the King for three nights at Dromkeen, and that on consideration of this, the house and lands were free from Crown rent. This was granted by King William. The Castle is now in ruins, burnt by the Black-and-Tans.
