- Some birds leave us in Winter while others come to us. The swallow, cuckoo and corncrake leave this country in winter and go to warmer lands but the starling and plover come in winter.
The swallows build their nests in the eaves of houses and the starlings in the trunks of trees.
The cuckoo builds no nest but lays its eggs in another birds nest.
Boys who interfere with birds nests are told that they will have no luck and that warts will cover their hands.
Weather may be judged from observation of birds.- Collector
