There was a teacher in Tervoe called Miss Sutton. She went out on pension some time ago. Jim wrote her epitaph.
People used be saying to Jim,"I wonder what will the people be saying about us when we are dead. So Jim then wrote a few epitaphs for his friends.
Here lies Bessie Sutton whose equal was not ever found in mansion in hamlet or cot.
To the day that we laid her beneath the green sod.
She was serving her country and serving her God.
A talented teacher in Church and in school.
She was loved by the people - the men as a rule.
Her neat little form was fragile and sweet.
From the crown of her head to her neat little feet.
Adored in the schoolroom by each tiny elf.
And so good that the Lord called her all to Himself.
Bessie Sutton was teacher in Tervoe from 1905 to 1936.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
