In case a wedding is held, it takes place in the house of the bride, sometimes the married couple have breakfast at a local hotel, and go away - usually to Dublin for a few days, generally from Wednesday until Saturday.

In olden times the man brought his wife home from the Chapel strapped behind him on a horse.
In some parts the pair eloped and got married secretly, if the parents of either party did not consent to the marriage. In many cases, weddings were held during the evening or night - a bg supper, consisting of a goose or turkey(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
