- The following stone and mortar ruins of antiquity are situated in Terryglass parish:-
(a) The ruins of St. Columb's monastery and chapel are in the village of Terryglass.
(b) Terryglass Castle, Oldcourt, is within a half-mile from the village; it was originally an ecclesiastical institution.
(c). Drominagh Castle, in Drominagh townsland, Terryglass, built on the shore of Lough Derg.
These buildings are already historically known and need no further reference here.There are also ruins of ancient earthen embankments in Terryglass parish:-
(a.) The monastic buildings must have been encircled with high earthen banks. Tradition points out a remaining portion some three hundred yards in extent and with a radial distance of about two hundred yards from the monastic ruins.
This embankment is on the farm of Harold Kent in the townsland of Garrownaglogh [?]. It forms a field boundary. This field is beside the public road, north-east from the monastery and on the right-hand side of the traveller as he goes from the village to the Catholic Church.
The land of the monks is noted for its extremely rich pasturage.
There are no visible traces of the entire earthen(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
