Mrs. Ffrench went to the priest and begged him to leave her this last son. The priest answered, "What's done is done, and it can't be undone". In 1860 the son died, aged 16 years.
The Ffrenches were buried in Cloughprior Abbey. Over their remains Mrs Ffrench erected three tombstones. The centre stone is the oldest, erected in 1833. It is a horizontal slab resting on other upright slabs. At the head is a representation of a monstrance, and on each side is an angel with folded arms.
The inscription reads:-
Erected to the memory of Jeffrey Ffrench of Carney Castle, who died on the 17th March, 1833, aged seven years. On the slab on the left is:- Erected by a beareaved wife to the memory of her beloved husband, Arthur Ffrench, who died on 20th March 1846, aged 43. Also to the memory of her third eldest son Francis Xavier Ffrench, who departed this life on 21st April, 1855, in the 18th year of his age and to the memory of her fifth beloved son and last Ffrench, aged 16, in 1860.
