  1. A Local Song (ar lean)

You farmers and freeholders and countrymen of mine, ¶ Come rally round till I relate the scenery we have seen

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
    we net saw Killaloe .
The small boats on the Shannon by
    Banagher were flowing
And to the right was shining bright the town of sweet Shinrone .
We next saw Knockshegowna towers and Ballingarry too ,
    Cloughjordan shades and Brosna
vales were pleasing to our view
Camross shades and Parsonstown did far excel them all
And in yonder vale there lay consealed the town of Moneygall
Rathnavouge it fears no plague her mines with money flowing
Dunkerrin so grand confront the land of lovely Castleroan .
The horsepower it was loaded and homwards we did steer.
Although we had been far from home no danger did we fear.
The road I own was rugged but we steered it right enough.
Until we arrived in splendour at O'Meara's of Lisduff
It was there we had refreshments and we had a jolly smoke
