    My name it is Bob Stapleton ¶ I am a native of Montore

    My name it is Bob Stapleton
    I am a native of Montore
    Composed of a large family
    Great hardships I have bore
    It is said for to maintain them
    I had for to work hard
    But it was not so some time ago
    When I worked in Dromard
    Before I worked for the Major
    The truth you now shall hear
    I worked all in a quarry for a widow who lived near.
    Not fearing any danger upon the monument high.
    A little spall was my downfall
    By which I lost an eye
    They sent me up to Dublin
    To try to ease my pain
    And for to give me one instead
    Which caused me to complain.
    They sent me home incurable
    No remedy could they apply
    And for to keep me company
    They gave me a glass eye.
    Now since I am near sighted
