- The food in Olden times was much different from the food we have nowadays. The breakfast consisted of, oaten bread, sour milk and parts of the year potatoes. The dinner consisted of, potatoes and salt herrings. The supper consisted of, querin meal and milk. During the Winter months potatoes were used at every meal. Instead of cups they had wooden piggins and small tin pints. The children used the small tin pints. All children under the age of twelve years had to stand at the table while eating their meals.
