named William Nolan, lived in Mellison Parish of Gortnahoe, Barony of Slievardagh County Tipperary.
At that time creameries were unknown and all butter was made at home.
For a long time Nolan had no difficulty in churning but there came a time, when, do what he would, at the end of the churning there was nothing in the barrel, but froth.
Coming with a load of coal one day from the local pit Nolan met an old man named Donncadh Boore and told him his story. Now Donncadh was a "fairy doctor"
"Well" said he to Nolan "when will you be churning again"
    "On Friday next" said Nolan
"Well" said he "have a good fire lighted on that day and I'll go down"
They parted and on Friday morning Donncadh repaired to the house with the coulter of a plough and some wedges of iron.
"Place the cream in the barrel now" said he to the housewife.
This done he placed the irons in the fire.
