- There was an old man who lived by himself in times gone by for his wife died. He had a can on a stillion for an ornament and it should be scoured [?] white every week with free stone There were four hoops on it and they should be kept bright as a silver knife. After some time he married again and he told his wife that she should keep the can and the hoops bright for it was in their family for the last seven generations and he said that he was very fond of the can and she said that she would keep it very bright. On day he said to his wife that if he died before her that she should promise him to bury the can with him and she said she would. In some years later he got sick and he died. Then he was carried to the grave yard in a horse and car for it was all common cars that were at funerals in these days and his wife carried the can with her and she waited until he was put into the grave(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
