- There is a holy well in the parish of Donaskeigh in Ryan's holding there. It i about a quarter of a mile in off the road and there is a passage leading into it. It is situated at the base of a hill overlooking the Multeen. There is a whitethorn bush growing over it.
It is circular in shape and about two feet deep. No water cress grows in it.
It is called Saint Loughteen's well. The Saint had a church built beside it but no trace of the sacred edifice remains to-day.
The land in which the well is situated was originally owned by the tyrannical Landlord William Scully of Ballycohey fame. Mr Scully drained the well but in a few days it had sprung up again a few yards away from the original site.
In olden times people used to visit this well to do their rounds and cures were effected there.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
