- Taken down from Patrick Ryan Tim Turraheen by his son Timothy1.
The night fell dark in Limerick.
And everything was still.
'Twas from our foes in ambush.
We laid beside a hill.
Like lion's bold we waited
To rush upon our pray.
We had gallant Sarsfield at our back.
By the dawning of the day.2.
From Dublin came the foes.
With guns and stores of war.
But to take the walls of Limerick
They want for ten times more
And little were they dreaming
That they would meet their doom
For they met with gallant Sarsfield
Far down from wild Slievebloom.3.
At the lonely dawn of midnight
Each man did mount his steed.
Right through the streets of Cullen town
They dashed with lightning speed.
And oe'r the hill like thunder
To Ballyneety wall.
Where lay our foes secure my boys
With guns and stores of war.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
