When a man thought it time for his son or daughter to marry he and his friends were on the look out for a suitable partner and a living to suit the fortune they could afford to give. A suitable place offered the contracting parties met at an appointed place and the money mattered were arranged. Next the farm had to be seen, land and cattle looked after. When the match was being made for a girl the young man was invited to meet his intended wife. Neighbours and friends were asked to the contraction and a pleasant night's dancing, eating, and drinking followed.
