  1. Marriage Customs
People usually get married in Shrove. That is from 7th January until Shrove Tuesday. Quite a number of people get married on Shrove Tuesday.
The times for not getting married are the month of May and harvest times. The old people say "What is bound in harvest is loosed in Spring," meaning that one of the newly wed would die. They have a rhyme about the days of the week, too, which is as follows.
    Monday for health.
    Tuesday for wealth.
Wednesday, the best day of all.
    Thursday for losses.
    Friday for crosses.
    Saturday no luck at all.
About the colour of the frock workn by the bride, old peole say:
Married in blue he is sure to be true,
" " brown you'll live out of town,
    " " grey " " far away.
" " green ashamed to be seen.
