  1. About forty years ago a man named Tom Crehan living in Aybroe near Labasheeda was coming home from his "cuaird."
It was the month of December and long ago there used be wild deer running about the country in Cahiracon.
The night was very dark and just as he was jumping down off the wall he came on a wild deer. He did not see the deer until he was on his back.
The frightened animal started to gallop off with Crehan riding him.
He jumped over walls and ditches but still Crehan held his grip until at last the deer came to a very high wall. This he tried to jump but failed because of the weight on his back.
As soon as Crehan got the deer at a stand-still he jumped off his back.
He did not kill the deer but all the same he has it to say he rode one.
William Gavin, the great sportsman who lived in Kiladysart wrote a poem about him. Crehan yet lives and is now over eighty years.
