- One night long ago my grand uncle Thomas Browne and a man named Tom Moloney – his next-door neighbour were coming from Kiladysart, and when they were about a mile outside the village they saw a woman wearing a brown scapular habit which the common country people wear as a death-shroud rolling along the road in front of them. They were terribly frightened and they ran into a nearby house.
When morning came they went home and about a week after my grand uncle died.
My grandfather was at his house the night he died and when he opened the outer door leading to the street he saw three men dressed in white standing in front of the door. He did not tell the woman of the house at the time, but next morning he told her.
