  1. In every parish in Ireland there are blessed wells, and they are dedicated to certain saints. There is a blessed well situated in the townland of Liosmaolbreeda, in the parish of Ballyea, in the County of Clare. Many people have gone to this well with sore eyes and they have been cured, by rubbing the water of the well to their eyes and by praying to Saint Brigid.
The well is dedicated to St. Brigid. There is a big tree growing at the western side of the well. There is an alter at that side also. There are crucifixes, rosary beads, pennies, and blessed pictures on the altar ; these were left there by pilgrims.
When you would go there you should do five rounds in honour of St. Brigid and if you had sore eyes they would be cured. Pilgrims bring some of the bark of the tree home with them so that if their eyes got sore again they could rub the bark of the tree to them.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
