- The Leon came on the 3rd of Oct. 1907. She was wrecked opposite Sugar Island. Some of the crew were saved by the Quilty fishermen. The coastguards attempted a rescue. Their boat also got capsized and had to be rescued.
Some of the Sailors left the ship on rafts and were taken a shore by
Pat Boyle, Pat O'Connor and Michael Maloney in one canoe.
