“There was an old man named Johnny Boyle who lived in an old house at Crush-a-Roddy.”
There was an old man named Johnny Boyle who lived in an old house at Crush-a-Roddy (A place in one of the old roads of Walterstown Parish). He, Johnny, used to be passing down by the graveyard of Mountown every night from the shop. He used take off his hat going by the graveyard and say a prayer for the souls in Purgatory. This night he forgot the prayer and just as he was at the Churchyard Gate there were three shouts above in the Churchyard. He then went home as quickly as he could.(no title)
“An old man names Pat Byrd was coming home one night on the Church Road.”
An old man named Pat Byrd was coming home one night on the Church Road. When down near the Old Mills, a little black dog ran on in front of him. He passed no notice on the dog. Then the bushes began to "tear and tatter" like as if someone was tearing them out of the roots. The whole ditch was then shaken. Then he went home without seeing or hearing anything more.- Collector
