  1. Long ago, there was a place in Derryconnor, near Glack boreen, and it was called Tinker's lane.
    There were fourteen houses in it, and fourteen families, and each of the families had a different trade.
    There were tinkers, basket makers, and beesom makers.
    Thomas Welton was a Hatter, Michael Sefton was Nailer, Thomas Kennedy was a beesom maker.
    Burk's have a forge in Ballivor now, and long ago the old Burk's had a forge in Cloneycavan.
    Old Tom Burke was a slane maker as well.
    Pat Bray, had a forge where Dixons live now in Ballivor.
    Dixons in Killyon, were black-smiths, and are still.
    The forge maker cures warts.
    Johny Murry, in Ballivor, was the last shoe-maker. He died 1933.
    Thomas Rafferty,in Brannixtown, Trim, was a weaver. They have the loom yet, and people still get the loan of the weavers cup (part of loom) as a drink out of it cures the chin-cough.
    Thomas Reynolds, Balliivor used to make nets, for rabbit catching.
