  1. The chief breakfast food long ago was stirabout which was eaten with milk when it was plentiful if not without it.
    For dinner they usually ate potatoes which were put in a basket on the floor and milk was drunk in noggins made of wood. Salt was also used.
    When tea time came they used to eat oaten bread. If not they used to eat stirabout or potatoes. They used to drink tea very seldom.
    They usually ate potatoes for their supper too.

  2. Long ago they used to eat stirabout for their breakfast and potatoes and buttermilk for their dinner. They had very little tea that time it was buttermilk they used to drink. They had not flour or loaf bread long ago it was all oaten and barley bread they used to eat. They used to have potaoecakes and buttermilk for their tea.
