Ar an leathanach seo
- There was one old school in the district. It was called Tiercork school, because it was in the townland of Tiercork. There was only one teacher in it, from beginning to end. Her name was Miss Farrelly. She was from Tiercork also.
It was not a hedge school. There was not over one hundred and twenty children at it, until Maio school was built. Then they had to go to Maio school.
There was a hedge school in that place before. The name of the master who was teaching, was Mr Redmund. The children had to give him a penny a week, and that was all he was getting. They had stones for seats, and for the blackboard they had a big slate. They had bits of stones for chalk. That was the school my father attended.
