- Long ago it was a custom of local people to make a cross for St. Brigid's day and when the feast-day was over the cross would be left over the door stuck in the eave of the house. This cross was made from two pieces of sticks and around the cross were pieces of rushes interwoven together in the shape of a diamond.
On May day a bush ornamented with flowers of various colours is hung up in front of the door by nearly all people in this locality. This is done in honour of the Blessed Virgin.
The palm which is got on Palm Sunday is sometimes hung in the cow-house or in the other stables.(continues on next page)- Collector
