- The most harmful weeds growing on my fathers farm are the thistle and the nettles. The blackheds ferms, water cress are unharmful. The sorrel, chicken-weed are also unharmful.
The thistle is the only weed that grows on land where land is good. The nettles and the chicken-weed are found only in poor land. The young nettle when boiled in new milk in the spring-time is a great blood purifier. The chicken-weed is used for poultices for sores or boils. Water-cress when eaten raw contains iron and other things for the blood.
The sorrel eaten raw is a great blood purifier. The ivy is used for dyeing purposes and there are plenty of weeds used for poisin.- Bailitheoir
