The garden grown potato must have the earth or mould dug very finely first then raised into drills. Those are semi round. The potatoes are dropped one foot apart. When they are bout four inches high they are covered again this is called landing. When they are dug they are stored in pits this is made by covering the potatoes with straw and clay. The common spade in this district is this shape (picture of spade). I only know of one wooden plough.Robert Tallon
