Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)is a very uncertain crop. It is always my brother that prepares the ground every year. It is manured first before it is ploughed and then the ground is partly soft for use. The sort of a plough that is used mostly in this district is an iron one and the only wooden one that is around here is in Slane Castle. They never use it now because it is too old and it is preserved in the forge. It is all wood. The best potatoes for this district is British Queens and Kerrs Pinks. There are many different kinds of potatoes such as:- Arran Banners, Kerr's Pinks, Shamrocks, Arran Chiefs, Arran Victorys etc.
The spade is in great use still it is used for the second covering of the ridges and for digging them out. When the potatoes put their heads over the ground they have to be covered once and why this has to be done is to strengthen the stalk(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
